In the middle west of Portugal, in 1996, was created Ecofrutas – Station Fruit of Extremadura, Ltd.
Founded by 16 producers, with a storage area for 2,500 tons of fruit, which was produced on 200 hectares, 190 hectares of pome and stone fruits of 10 hectares.
Over the years, and in order to satisfy the market, increased the production area of ​​100 hectares, giving more prominence to the apple orchards, which now represent 30% of the total fruit produced.
The storage capacity was increased by 5,000 tons, relying heavily on controlled atmosphere which now account for 70% of the total available cold on their premises.
Their products have always high levels of security that their customers have become familiar, has implemented a credible traceability system that allows you to track the product from the orchard to its final consumer.
Quality has always been a big bet of this company, so the investment in certification systems, both in terms of marketing – HACCP and BRC – both in terms of production – Nurture Global Gap and Tesco – have been a constant in order to form a guarantee of the products marketed.
As a company dedicated to export, the Ecofrutas invests widely in their growth, without jeopardizing the high quality criterion that is imposed or the know-how of those who are in the market for over a decade, thus taking a leading position both in National Market, which currently has a partnership with the Regional Goods, SA (Intermarché), as in export markets, with large representation in the English markets, Brazilian, Dutch and French.
